The Department of Law at Stockholm University is the largest law department in Sweden, with some 2500 full time students, 2000 part time students and an academic staff of 100. Some 25 professors are responsible for the teaching activities in various research programmes.

Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice is responsible for legislation concerning the constitution and general administrative law, civil law, procedural law and criminal law. The Ministry also handles matters relating to migration and asylum policy.

The Swedish Courts

There are three kinds of courts in Sweden: the general courts, which comprise district courts, courts of appeal and the Supreme Court; the general administrative courts, that is to say, county administrative courts, administrative courts of appeal and the Supreme Administrative Court; and also the special courts, which determine disputes within special areas, for example, the Labour Court and the Market Court.
